Every year in the first few weeks of summer we head to summer camp to take merit badges and camp out for a week and to learn new outdoors skills
IT IS THE MISSION OF RANSBURG SCOUT RESERVATION TO FOSTER THE SCOUT OATH AND LAW IN BOTH SCOUTS AND SCOUTERS BY OFFERING A FUN, SAFE, INCLUSIVE, POSITIVE, MEMORABLE, AND CHALLENGING SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCE.
PACKING LIST:
Your name and Troop should appear somewhere on each item.
Mess Kit (not metal)
Plastic Bowl
Plastic/Metal Spoon, fork, knife
Plastic Plate
Plastic Cup
in ziploc or mesh bag
First Aid Kit, personal (Troop will take a more comprehensive one)
4-6 Adhesive Bandages
4-6 Alcohol wipes
Antiseptic Cream
Burn Ointment
More if earning First Aid Merit Badge... see requirements and bring to camp to show counselor
Sleeping Bag (rated to appropriate temperature for the campout)
32 oz refillable water bottle (Nalgene or similar)
Scout Handbook (in a ziploc bag with a pencil/pen)
Small notebook for Merit Badges (in ziploc)
Plastic Bags
Gallon Ziploc Bag with Dryer sheet to place uniform shirt in when not wearing
Backpack or Duffle bag (a bin is preferred, see below)
Drawstring backpack bag to carry things around camp
Flashlight
Class A uniform to travel in
Complete change of clothes to sleep in (bring 2 for summer camp) (weather appropriate)
One pair of socks for each day plus one extra
underwear one pair per day
Clothing appropriate for the outing (tshirts, swim suit(s), shorts, pants, sweatshirt/jacket)
Rain Gear or Poncho (if any chance of precipitation, it will rain at least one day at summer camp)
Towels (2 - one to swim with/one to shower with) washcloth
soap, shampoo, comb, baby powder/gold bond powder, deodorant
Toothbrush and Toothpaste
Hat and sunglasses
sunblock, bug repellent - lotion or pump -no aerosol cans allowed at camp
closed toe sandals or water shoes for lake front
old sneakers and hiking shoes
small knife or camp gadget for carving, cutting (need to earn totin chip to carry knife)
Cash ($15 for dinner on Wed. Night, $ for lunch on Sunday at Wendy's, $ for Merit Badges with fees, $ for trading post; troop covering entertainment on Wed. Night)
Rubber Maid bins are great for packing for summer camp. (boys can put everything away, can sit out in the rain and can find items better.)
Prefer no electronics- however, if they want to use on the way down to camp- they can be left in the cars for the week or put away for the week. Not to be used once at camp, will be held for them if used during camp.

Class B uniform is any scout tshirt or the troop tshirt. (available for $12 at the scout cabin)

Long pants, shoe or boot with a heel for Horsemanship Merit Badge or a trail ride with the troop
